Success Book Club
Brian Tracy, best-selling author and business coach, once said, "All the good ideas have already been found.” No matter what field you strive to succeed in, knowledge is its foundation. Ask successful business leaders, scientists or politicians how they got started or how they stay ahead of the pack, and they will share their list of books that inspire them. Successful people are life-long students; they never stop reading about the various aspects of their profession. They apply their knowledge to assessing opportunities and working them to their advantage. The aim of the Success Book Club is to provide reviews of in-print books that inspire, teach and develop your innate talents to help you succeed without spending hundreds of dollars on internet coaching programs. And since we’re online, we’ll also look at publications that enhance our use and understanding of the internet.

Become a Business Leader
So what are the top traits among successful business leaders? Many studies have tried to analyze these qualities, and three traits show-up consistently among leaders of from all walks of life. While making lots of money is an easy answer, because income is readily measurable, success is also defined by what time you go home at night (or turn off your home computer!), how little you worry about gaining customers (supporters, backers), how much time you take off every year, and how sustainable your current pace is. Therefore, income of itself is not a clear marker of success. If you have ulcers, high-blood pressure, teenagers running amok, taking prescriptions to help you sleep, and mood enhancers to keep you on an even keel while you bank that 6-figure income, you are not as successful as you might be. The three traits that every successful person has are first, self-confidence which springs from knowledge and experience. The self-confident are not afraid of client objections, are not destroyed by criticism or rejection, and are not afraid of innovation. A conspicuous byproduct of self-confidence is integrity. Second, they are doers. They actually get things done. They don’t allow outside distractions anymore than they allow themselves to get lost in the process of doing. They work consistently and are organized. The third trait is some degree of salesmanship. Whether the successful person is selling his ideas, as a politician; skills, as a professional; or a product, as a business person, they are comfortable networking and persuading. The chief subjects you’ll find on our Success Book Club virtual bookshelf will mainly fall into the categories of developing these successful leadership traits.
