Affiliate programs involve selling other people’s products or services. Some are free; no purchase is necessary to obtain the right to become an affiliate seller. Often, though, a purchase of the product is required.
Is there money to be made in affiliate marketing? You betcha!
In May 2008, Jupiter Research predicted affiliates would split $2.1 billion in commissions this year.
While online retailers and financial services account for approximately one-half of the affiliate spending, they're followed closely by education (information products), auto, travel, and then all other sectors.

Building a landing page
Adding affiliate links isn't going to generate passive income for you any more than adding AdSense code to your pages if you don't bring traffic to your website.
You need a well-crafted landing page and an AdWords campaign to attract customers.
A landing page is a sales script that follows a format listing benefits of your product or service in a familiar way so that the reader can quickly get through the information.
But what words do you use to describe the product's benefits?
Let me walk you through the steps I took to create my SBI affiliate landing page.
Before I building my landing page, I went to Google Trends where I typed in my keywords. I started with Build Your Own Website, but discovered that Build A Website was a far more popular search string.
"Build A Website" became both the title of my AdWords ad and the title of my landing page. I also used those exact words in the headline of my landing page and in the first sentence of my copy.
My next stop was
Google AdWords.
Don't worry. You can use this tool for free.
On the lower half of the page you’ll see a link for “get keyword ideas.” After I enter “build a website” Google presents a list of related keywords. (They are located further on down the page). Google is telling me that it expects to find some of those keywords within my text so that it knows my page content is consistent with the search phrase: "build a website". This also holds true for your sales copy when you compose your ad later on.
Google lists related keywords in the order of their relevancy, so I made sure to pluck a couple from the top of the list to include in both my landing page and ad.
Once my sales script was written, I used MSN’s
Ad Writer
tool to generate my AdWord content. But more than that: I learned if my landing page clearly stated what I meant it to say. Depending on the result, I could then go back and edit my sales script or let the copy stand.
